This regulatory change, aligned with European standards, aims to improve energy efficiency and harmonize electricity markets.
Offers based on average power (MW)
Since operation schedules are calculated in energy (MWh), market participants will need to convert these values into average power (MW) over 15-minute intervals.
Similarly, the correct execution of any balancing adjustment operation will require converting the matched power in each 15-minute interval back into energy values.
Decoupling between Day-ahead (hourly) and Intraday (15-min) markets
The Day-Ahead Market will remain hourly, and its transition to 15-minute intervals will be delayed due to the technical challenges arising from the simultaneous coordination of all European markets.
This decoupling between daily and intraday granularities will force market participants to adjust their consumption and generation schedules in the intraday markets. Otherwise, deviations may occur, as the hourly matching in the Day-Ahead Market will be distributed evenly across each 15-minute interval.
Increased volatility in deviation prices
Market participants will need to adapt their operations to manage the higher risk of deviations and potential additional costs arising from schedule adjustments:
Implementing advanced forecasting tools to improve prediction accuracy in 15-minute intervals.
Optimizing real-time energy trading strategies, quickly adapting to market fluctuations.
En Gnarum, ofrecemos un enfoque integral M2M (Meter To Market) diseñado especĂficamente para abordar estos desafĂos.

Italian market experience: Integrating with the TIDE regulatory framework
On January 1st, the initial phase of the TIDE reform (Testo Integrato del Dispacciamento Elettrico) came into effect in the Italian electricity market, a process whose similar features will be adopted by the Spanish markets starting March 18th.
After two months under this regulatory framework, we can confirm that our systems have integrated seamlessly into this new operational scheme. In particular, we highlight the flexibility to adjust the different resolution levels that coexist within each session, as well as the potential for dynamic conversion of production/consumption units (MWh, MW, etc.) across the various system elements.
