One platform to Trade, Control and Optimize renewable flexibility in Balancing Markets

Monetize renewable flexibility in Balancing Markets. Trade, forecast and operate Technical Constraints and mFRR from one platform.

General Description

Participating in Balancing Services allows renewable producers to diversify revenue streams by capturing value during periods of high solar and wind output, when day-ahead market prices collapse. Assets move beyond exclusive dependence on pool prices, unlocking new sources of remuneration based on their flexibility and system responsiveness.

Through Technical Constraints and mFRR markets, renewable plants can generate revenues by curtailing production, an especially attractive option during peak irradiation or wind hours. In addition, when weather changes or plant unavailability occur after main auctions have closed, Balancing Services provide the flexibility needed to adjust production schedules and reduce imbalance costs.

Optimizing-energy-operations-understanding-pool-and-intraday-markets

To address these needs, Gnarum introduces its new Balancing Services module, fully integrated with the other markets operated through Trade (Day-Ahead, IDAs and XBID), enabling agents to monitor operations, design strategies and track results in real time.

The solution is enhanced through Trade’s integration with the Control Center and Gnarum’s Forecast service, key components for optimizing and executing operational strategies in Balancing Markets.

Our client profile

Market Representative Agents and traders already active in auction-based markets and XBID, seeking to incorporate REE Balancing Markets—Technical Constraints and mFRR—to maximize revenues from their solar and wind renewable portfolios.

Our challenge

An end-to-end solution is required to maximize revenues in Balancing Markets while minimizing imbalance costs. The service must therefore meet the following functional requirements:

Operational compliance: The Balancing Services module is designed in full alignment with REE procedures for Technical Constraints and mFRR, ensuring traceability and validity of all operations.

Certified Control Center integration: A 24Ă—7 certified connection that automatically manages TTRs and dispatch setpoints.

Real-time producible-based forecasting: The trading system is continuously fed with each plant’s producible signal—directly from the Control Center—preventing forecast underestimation and enabling agile strategies in response to operational changes occurring after auction closure.

Gnarum’s Solution

Gnarum’s value proposition fully meets the above requirements in the following way:
